The Steenkamp family are the third generation owners of Groenland and have established a reputation for producing outstanding red and white wines in the fertile Bottelary area near Stellenbosch.

Complex varietal wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and a special blend, Antoinette Marie, have placed the estate in the forefront of superior red wine production. Maturation takes place in American and French oak barrels.

  • Groenland Chenin Blanc 2018

    This wine was made from specially selected grapes of old bush vines planted in 1981.

    The Chenin Blanc “Landskap” (meaning Landscape), offers sweet tropical aromas of guava, apple, ripe pears and melon. Rich and well balanced wine with long, smoothfinish.

    This wine offers fresh fruit and tropical flavours with hints of asparagus, granadilla and green pepper on the nose. Pale gold colour with a long clean finish.

    A well-balanced, full-bodied Merlot with integrated oak flavours and velvety soft tannin finish. Hints of coffee and wood smoke on the nose are followed by layers of mulberries and plum aromas in this deep- red wine. Can age very well.

    Hints of vanilla and smoky aromas pave the way for a full and complex palate. An intense wine with layers of fruit and a well- balanced finish. Matured in French & American oak barrels, this wine can be enjoyed now or be cellared for up to 10 years.

  • Groenland STEENKAMP 2014

    The 3 best barrels in the cellar were selected for this Cabernet Sauvignon (66.6%) and Merlot (33.3%) blend. Full- bodied, fruity wine with black pepper, nutty and berries on the nose. The tannins are well structured and in perfect harmony. Very good ageing potential.
